Andrews Lab

We study how college biology faculty can be best supported to teach effectively, especially at research-focused institutions. We consider cognitive, affective, social, and structural factors that affect how instructors approach teaching. Our ultimate goal is to improve learning in undergraduate biology because well-trained scientists are vital to the long-term interests of our country.

We also study how college students learn evolution and how their learning can best be facilitated. In particular, we focus on identifying the inaccurate ideas students have about evolution and how their ideas progress at they build scientifically-accurate conceptions.
